Allamanda is an easy-to-grow flowering shrub from the tropics that offers a steady display of golden-yellow flowers all spring and summer long. It's prized for its excellent heat tolerance and long-season bloom -- as well as the fact that allamanda grows well in both containers and landscapes. Grow allamanda in containers either by itself, with other tropical plants (such as elephant's ears), or with heat-loving annual flowers such as angelonia. (We think its yellow flowers are a wonderful accent to plants that have purple flowers or foliage!) In frost-free climates, large allmanda varieties are grown as vines or hedges (depending on the type).
